Daddy Dear Daddy
Mychals/Smith 2013

When I woke up this mornin my feet hit the floor
It's cold in the cabin with the cracks in the door
I looked out the window saw Daddy walk away
There's danger awaiting in the mines there today

My Dream last night showed it so clear
The men were all tremblin their eyes filled with fear
The Mountain came down smoke belched up from the ground
The whistle started blowin we all run toward the sound

The men were all diggin the women they all prayed
Lord save all our men, Lord show us your grace
In my dream I just stood there and hollered and screamed
Daddy dear Daddy how real it all seemed

Chorus
Daddy dear Daddy don't go to the mines
My Dream was so real I know it's a sign
That mountain fell down and you'll never be free
That's just too much mountain between you and me

Well I Opened the door and cried Daddy don't go
He looked and said "Son I've got to carry my load"
There's coal to be mined and there's bills to be paid
Take care of your Mother and mind what she says

As He walked away he faded into that mountain
The hours and Minutes I slowly started countin
Don't let my dream come true My Lord I cried
Let Daddy come home, My tears I can't hide

All day I just stood there watched for smoke in the sky
But the mountain didn't rumble I didn't hear any cry's
The bell didn't ring but the women still prayed
That all the men would come home at the end of the day

Chorus
Daddy dear Daddy don't go to the mines
My dream was so real I know it's a sign
That mountain fell down and you'll never be free
That's just too much mountain between you and me
